it's so hard to get old without a cause

Remember when you were a teen and your young men/women leaders were old fogies?
Yeah me too!
Those were good times.
Although I'm pretty sure I do not want to ever go back, I'm not sure I wanted to go forward either.
Old has a funny way of sneaking up on you.
Now I am the lady the teens are making fun of that cries all the time.
Hmpfff
The other YW leaders welcomed me w/very kind smiles
BUT
that little smirk behind their eyes left me wondering
have I just been thrown to the wolves?

Good Luck April! The MiaMaids are a good age. We all get our turns in the different organizations. Something to learn everywhere.

Ahhh, the young women. Where I have spent most of my adult life. I cannot imagine you crying all the time. It's a lie. You and Nellie used to tease me for crying when I bore my testimony. Don't worry, I should have teased me too, because I was a huge church dork. I remember that you cried that time in Becky's car and I cried for 2 seconds, then said "I'm fine now." And then that time you, Jamie and I were trying to find the Haunted Old Mill, and we got freaked out and everyone was crying, and you made me say a prayer.

Anyway, good luck. You'll do great and have lots of fun with those poor, stuck-in-the-middle-miamaids-who-are-too-young-for-boys-and-too-old-for-barbies. Make em laugh like you used to make me laugh in yw!

Was I smirking? I'm actually really excited to have you in our click. I just hope you don't get completely sick of me since we already see a lot of each other. Now we can add Wednesday Nights to that.

I was sitting in Sacrament Meeting yesterday after they put you in YW... thinking about how our plan was for you to be Erin's YW Leader. You realize that's 6 years from now? Don't ditch out on me now. I'm counting on you.

Nellie and I were total dirtbags! I have always been pretty emotional but I used to save it up all day and only cry at night in my bed. Now I cannot hold back and I hate that. I remember the "I'm fine" story so well, it was crazy how you could just turn it off. Seriously though, the YW will be fun except for the parts that aren't.

I think we inherited Dad's cry gene. Today in school I was reading a book to my 3rd graders and it was about a boy and his dog died. I just couldn't help it and my voice was cracking and I thought "Oh my heck I have a problem." I heard a few boys snicker but mostly everyone said it was really sad. I also just got released as Primary chorister and put in as YW camp director and YW sports person(yes I'm not a sports lover) Well my cryfest has begun too.

Get ready for some more crying! I did a lot of tear-shedding in that calling and I loved every single moment of it! Well, mostly I loved the fun parts, but the crying was a little redonk.
Oddly enough I loved teaching lessons. I learned a lot and still really miss that feeling I had when in that calling.
Camp is the best. Especially if you give the girls bad ideas and they get in trouble and keep their mouths shut and say it was all their own ideas ;)

Oh looky here my Danny posted a comment. She's a great person.

I'm in the YW too, and I was a little nervous at first, but I LOVE it now. I totally know what you mean though.

I bet you are just perfect for those YW!

Some words of advice... If while at camp, some girls find a stack of chocolate bars in the rafters of the outhouse, DO NOT accuse them of stealing. Also, if some yw claim they saw some men lurking around camp, don't ignore them, causing them to get the youth leaders involved, while handling matters on their own, and ultimately getting sent home. If you avoid those things, you should be fine. :) Also, if you stick a camera with a flash, into the pit toilet and snap a picture, the picture will turn out with great detail. Just ask Laurel... she hung the picture on our fridge. My dad ripped it up, so she replaced it with the duplicate. Good times.

I remember those days when we never thought we would be that old. One year for halloween we dressed up as young women leaders. We wore sweats and stuffed them with pillows and had curlers in our hair.
I missed church on Sunday and it sounds like everybody got a new calling.

LOL Ginger. Seriously I am still laughing a few hours later.
Did we actually eat those candy bars? so sick.
I cannot believe what a big deal was made out of all that stuff. I sure hope I am a little less high strung. Oh the memories! I loved Girls camp w/the Hansens.
Hey remember when we put veggies w/faces on peoples door steps and ditched? that was funny

Only a little jealous!! But pretty close to really jealous!!! Only the best calling in the church if you ask me. You will do awesome. This is your precursor to YW pres. Just sayin.

I'm not sure any of you know the real definition of the word "old." However, this old woman loved YW and still misses it tons. You will be a leader the girls will love and admire. How could they not?
